Wesley Baker's Story

Wesley Baker

Wesley Baker was an up and coming senior at Conway High School. He was looking forward to his senior year as he prepared for his last year as #49, a linebacker for the Conway Tigers. Wesley had hoped for a future with Clemson Tigers after graduation, which would take place in May 2014. You could tell just how much he loved life by the look on his face. He ALWAYS a great big handsome smile, and a little twinkle in his eyes. Friends with most, loved by all.

On July 5th, of this year, while crossing Hwy 701 Wesley was struck by a mac truck. Wesley died while lying on the highway that afternoon, but God was not finished with Wesley just yet. Little did we know, God was only just getting started with Wesley. Wesley fought hard to hang on to life for the first couple of weeks, surrounded by his family and friends. Everyone knew that Wesley and his family needed prayer and that they needed it fast. That is when "Wesley Baker Prayer Chain" was started. Wesley ended up losing his left leg from right above the knee. His left foot has suffered damage also. They are doing surgeries and skin grafts to try and save it. Wesley also has a traumatic brain injury. He has just returned from Charlotte where he was for a couple of months of therapy at Levine's Children's Hospital.

It was a battle to get Wesley into a rehabilitation center, as everyone was turning him down based on the fact that he wasn't reacting on command. They weren't even giving him a chance to try. The more he was turned down the harder his Moma, Family and Prayer Chain fought and prayed for doors to be open. After three months, Wesley is finally home with his wonderful family.

"Hi, I am from Pamplico, SC and we are praying for you here, Wesley Baker. We are also lifting up your family in prayer. God bless you all and please keep us updated on Wesley's recovery."

"Stay strong, Welsey! You've made it this far.. You're such and amazing person with a great personality. Plus, you're a great football player. Glad you're home and doing well, bud. I am still praying for you. Love you "
